Vladimir Putin’s critic, Alexei Navalny has been hospitalized after being poisoned with toxins in his tea aboard a flight to Moscow.
In a video which surfaced on the internet today, Alexi Navalny,44, is seen screaming in agony just before the plane made an emergency landing in Siberia where he was immediately rushed to a hospital in comatose.
His spokeswoman Kira Yarmysh later tweeted that the politician was currently on a ventilator and in ‘grave condition’, suffering from the effects of consuming toxic poison.
She told the Echo Moskvy radio station that Mr Navalny was sweating and asked her to talk to him so that he could ‘focus on the sound of a voice’.
Ms Yarmysh said the politician must have consumed something from tea he drank earlier in the morning.
“Doctors are saying the toxin was absorbed quicker with hot liquid,” she tweeted.
Mr Navalny’s Foundation for Fighting Corruption had been exposing Government officials, including some at the highest level and like many other opposition politicians in Russia, Mr Navalny has been frequently detained by law enforcement and harassed by pro-Kremlin groups.
In 2017, he was attacked by several men who threw antiseptic in his face, damaging one eye.
Also, in 2019, while in prison where he was serving a sentence following an administrative arrest, Mr Navalny was rushed to a hospital for what was suspected to be poisoning.
