YOU CANNOT GAME-CHANGE YOUR POCKETS WHEN YOU HAVE NOT CHANGED THE GAME

YOU CANNOT GAME-CHANGE YOUR POCKETS WHEN YOU HAVE NOT CHANGED THE GAME

It was a mere rumour probably architected by some detractors of the Kurt Okraku-led administration just to sully their reputation.

Some were under the illusion that it was a grand scheme orchestrated by a few unscrupulous football people who want the worse for the Kurt Okraku-led team just to derail whatever progress they may have made.

The football mafias were being blamed for the lies being peddled against Kurt Okraku and his team just so Ghana football would sink further into an abyss impossible for it to be rescued.

What appeared to be a seeming figment of our imagination has been confirmed.

President Kurt-Okraku and his team, in my honest view, deserve to be rewarded for the job assigned to them, which is to resuscitate Ghana football.

However, the work done or being done should be commensurate with the reward. What is in circulation as to how much the leadership of the Ghana Football Association are to be paid as allowances every month is mind-blowing, if not outrageous.

These are the monthly allowances for;

GFA President – GHs12,000
Vice President – GHs7,000
ExCo Members – GHs4,000

Much as it would be the height of unfairness to blame the lethargy we see in our game on Kurt Okraku due to the presence of COVID-19, it is also unconscionable for Kurt and his team to decide to pay themselves these eye-watering allowances when they have not done anything deserving of these allowances. The additional allowances for Kurt make this whole enterprise repugnant.

How much money have they brought into the coffers of the association since they took office? What have been their results as an administration?

Why such an impetuous decision when football has been on its knees? There is nothing game changing about such an, for want of a better word, irrational move!

In my considered view, you have failed, so far, to change the game and same should form the basis for you not to pay yourselves such usurious allowances.

P.K.Sarpong, Whispers from the Corridors of the Thinking Place.
